If Christ has not been raised your faith is futile and you are still in your sins.

1 Cor 15:17

Why is Christianity still relevant in today’s modern world?

Christianity is a religion of hope. For thousands of years, people all over the world have found peace, comfort, and purpose in the message of Jesus. The Bible tells us about Him, and that message has never faded because it speaks to our restless hearts.

We look around and see broken lives, evil things, a hurting world, and so much hopelessness. Deep down, we know we need something more. And today, just like long ago, God gives forgiveness, peace, and hope through His Son, Jesus.

Some people say you must take a “leap of faith” to follow Jesus, like it’s just pretending or hoping in a fairy tale. But that’s not true. Christianity is built on real history. Jesus truly lived. He truly died. And three days later, He truly came back to life. Many people saw Him alive again. Their eyewitness accounts are written down for us, and even non-Christian historians wrote about Him.

This is not just a nice story. It is proof that God keeps His promises. God promised to send a Savior, and Jesus came to do exactly that. He died for our sins, and He rose again to give us eternal life. Because of Him, we have a hope that will never fade away.

That hope was true in the past. It is true right now. And it will be true as long as this world remains.

I’ve seen statements that all religions are the same. Is that really true?

Humanity has looked for hope in many different religions. At first glance, it might look like Christianity, Judaism, and Islam all believe in the same God. But what each says about God is very different.

  • Christianity teaches that Jesus is the Messiah and the only way to God. He is the one who stands between God and people. We often think we must “work hard” to reach God, but the Good News is that Jesus already did the work. He gives salvation as a free gift.

  • Judaism rejects Jesus as the Messiah and is still waiting for theirs. Without Jesus, they rely on keeping God’s law. But no one is perfect, and no one can keep the law completely.

  • Islam believes Jesus was a good teacher, but not God’s Son. They deny the Trinity—that God is Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Instead of grace through Jesus, Islam requires obedience to Islamic law.

These religions cannot all be “different paths to the same God.” What each believes is different, and they can’t all be true at the same time.

Aren’t they all just talking about our attempt to be close to God?

Many religions talk about what people must do to make God happy or to be accepted by Him. But Christianity is different. It isn’t about what we do for God; it’s about what God has already done for us.

In the beginning the first people—Adam and Eve—disobeyed God in the Garden of Eden. That disobedience brought death and evil into the world. That’s why we see things like selfishness, fighting, war, sickness, and death.

But Christianity teaches something amazing: God sent a Savior, Jesus, to rescue us. Jesus came to do what no person could ever do and what Adam failed at—living a perfect life without sin. Then, He willingly died on the cross to take the punishment we deserved.

If the story stopped there, it wouldn’t be very hopeful. But after three days, Jesus rose from the dead! His grave was empty. Some people tried to explain it away, saying His body was stolen or that He wasn’t really dead. But the truth that has stood the test of time is this: Jesus was truly dead, and then He came back to life. After that, He appeared to more than 500 people before going back to heaven.

This rising from the dead is called the resurrection. It showed that God accepted Jesus’ sacrifice and that the debt of our sin was fully paid. Without the resurrection, Christians would have no hope. But because of it, we can have life with God forever.

What makes Christianity unique is that God reached down to save us. We didn’t earn it; we couldn’t earn it. But it is a free gift given by God. This is called the Good News, or the Gospel.

But we are all good, aren’t we?

We have all heard this statement. But is it really true? People often think being good on the outside is enough. But God looks deeper—He sees our hearts. We all want things that aren’t ours. Or even enjoy seeing an enemy fail or get hurt. Just having these feelings or desires show us that our hearts are evil, what we call sinful. This affects everyone.

A long time ago, Adam—the first man—sinned, and that original sin changed us all. Because of him, everyone is born with an evil heart and is separated from God. No one is perfect, except Jesus. Jesus came to take the punishment for our sin by dying on the cross.

But aren’t we getting better?

Even with all our new technology, the problem of evil hasn’t gone away. People build amazing things, but we also see terrible events like wars, school shootings, and oppression. These remind us that humanity isn’t getting better on its own—in fact, we often see the opposite.

So Christians are perfect?

Being a Christian doesn’t mean you stop making mistakes, bad choices or doing wrong things. No person on earth is perfect.  But when someone truly follows Jesus and studies the Bible, God’s Spirit will start changing their heart. Over time, they want less of the wrong things and more of the good things.

But Christians will still make wrong choices and harmful decisions. When this happens, a true Christian will want to say sorry to God and to anyone they hurt. This is called repentance.

I know I’m not perfect, either. I get why Jesus died and rose again. What next?

The Bible says that we need to receive Jesus to be given the right to be called a child of God. Receiving Jesus means more than just agreeing to facts about Jesus’ life. Receiving Jesus means confessing your sins to God, believing that Jesus died and rose again for your sins, and committing yourself to follow Him. That’s a big decision. But it’s a gift from God that is worth more than anything in this world.

God hasn’t left us to follow Jesus alone. He puts us in a community, the church, to help each other on this journey. The Bible tells us that we need other Christians around us, and other Christians need us. God has told us to gather every week to worship Him and to serve each other. If you still have questions about Christianity, or if you’re a brand new Christian, the best place to be is in a community of people who believe the Bible and will help you along the way. We would love to have you join us on Sunday mornings.

Visit us next Sunday or Contact us to talk to a pastor.

So do I need to go to Church? I see you have a livestream. I think I could just watch it from home.

We do share our worship service online. We know some people are sick or not able to travel, and this gives them a way to still take part. It also helps new visitors see what our church is like before coming in person. We know that in many places it may be hard to find the Bible clearly taught. Because of that, we want to make sure anyone, anywhere, can hear the good news of Jesus. In other words, the Gospel. That’s why our live-stream is free for everyone to watch.  But it does not take the place of Church attendance and fellowship. God designed the church to be a body of believers. We see this as a very important reason to attend in person.

You mean being present provides a blessing I can't get on a livestream?

Worship is more than just watching a church service online. When we come together at church, we hear God's Word, sing His songs from the Psalms, and join together through prayer. Worship isn’t something you just watch like TV—it's something you actively take part in.

And worshiping together, we receive many blessings. We learn more about who He is, and we are encouraged and nurtured by being with other believers. This shared time builds true friendship and community.

If you’re curious about God or what worship is like, you’re always welcome to join us and see what it’s all about!
